LoBue earned her way to Legislature
So how did Dini LoBue, a virtual unknown, beat party machine candidates and get elected to the Putnam District 8 legislative seat? She earned it. For months, Dini went door to door and listened to the people as they told her of their concerns about the town, making ends meet and government officials who were more interested in their own affairs rather than the affairs of their constituents. She discussed her vision for a new direction for Putnam, building on the county's historical, natural and cultural assets while at the same time cutting waste and keeping a tight fist on spending sprees.
For the respect and regard Dini showed the people, they returned it twice; once in September for the Republican primary and again on Nov. 4. Expectations are high on the part of her constituents, but as Dini has said, "I will never betray the trust that the people have put in me." Amen to that. She's earned our trust. I just hope she gains the support of her party and fellow members in the Legislature. Too many times I have seen good people being touted as inept during re-election time for not being able to pass any legislation, through no fault of their own.
