The Rockland Rockets and co-sponsor St. Thomas Aquinas College recently staged basketball clinics and boys and girls high school all-star games which helped raise $1,105 dollars for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Houston, which is still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Ike.
Kelly Mulligan of Pearl River High School was the MVP of the girls game and Mike Marchmann of St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, N.J. was the MVP of the boys game.

The all-star girls lineup included: Regina Angenzio, Kasheema Besley, Jillian Crawford, Megan Curran, Felicia Decruz, Shikiera Dumas, Brittany Edwards, Jasmine Gibson, Kelly Hughes, Venesha Hunter, Rachel McNair, Kelly Mulligan, Fiona Pierre, Christina Saunders, Brianne Traub, Alaina Walker and Taylor Wilson.
The volunteer coaches on the girls team were Stephanie Cleary of Tappan Zee High School and Phil Lockett.
The all-star boys lineup included: Moaaz Ahamad, Lester Anim, John Berry Badio, Andres Cabrera, Coco Clemente, Doug Conway, Joe Efese, Jordan Gallagher, Erick Hinrichsen, Luke Houston, Steven Linnane, Kevin Macahy, Mike Marchmann, Jonathan Michel, John Perez, Nigel Satterfield, Hilton Sneed, Greg Torchon, and Billy Walsh.
The volunteer coaches on the boys team were Chris Meyers of Clarkstown South High School and Vinny Marzella Jr. of North Rockland High School.
The volunteers who officiated the games were: Debbie Archambault, Steve Beck, Franklin Davis, Fred Gaines, Fidel Gonzalez and Bob Nelan.
Suffern cheerleaders: The Suffern Junior Midget Mounties cheerleaders recently placed first in the regional category of the Pop Warner Empire State Cheerleading Championships for the second year in a row.
Suffern is in the competition for the two remaining slots of the 17 teams who will be competing at the national championships at Disney World.
Members of the team include: Jordon Anderson, Emily Conklin, Rachel Felsenheld, Ashley Kelly, Carlee Lopez, Katie Medici, Sidney Padilla, and Angelina Robinson.
Men's softball: Adam Love homered and drove in three runs as C&W Auto Repair completed an undefeated season with an 11-5 win over Bailey's in the championship game of the Rockland County Fall League. Henry Hernandez pitched the win as C&W improved to 16-0.
Tops in soccer: Michael Spallone has been selected by his OMM Rowdies soccer teammates at the team's best goalie and MVP for the second straight season.
Spallone, a third-grader at Highview Elementary School, was the team's high scorer with a personal best 19 goals, including two hat tricks, while playing striker.
As the netminder, he allowed just two goals in 75 minutes.
Spallone, four-year veteran of the Orangetown Might Midgets soccer club, was also outstanding on defense when he played fullback.
